Welcome to your orientation pack to the WAMED Festival, in the vibrant heart of Fremantle! This pack contains all you’ll need to know to navigate your way around our exciting city and enjoy all the facilities of Fremantle during your stay.
Workshops will be held at Notre Dame University - Fremantle. Specific workshop locations will be confirmed closer to the festival.
All events, the Friday & Saturday night shows, Sunday's Raqs Cafe and the WAMED Grande Bazaar are all at Victoria Hall - 179 High St, Fremantle.
Food & Drink Information
Free tea and coffee is available at the workshop venue. Our aim is to facilitate an environmentally sustainable event with minimal waste, so please bring your own refillable water bottle and coffee cup for free tea and coffee or purchase a WAMED Eco-cup for $10.
The Friday evening ‘Eastern Odyssey” and Saturday evening ‘El Leila Helwa’ shows are scheduled after dinner, so you may like to make the most of the many great eateries in Fremantle. The Victoria Hall bar will be open for service during both shows.
The Raqs Café evening event will be held at 7pm and there will be a food truck providing dinner, or BYO food and purchase a drink from the bar as you relax in the cabaret-style seating and wind down from the Festival by enjoying some performances and hearing from our guest artists!
Airport transfers: Perth domestic and international airport terminals are approximately 30 kms from Fremantle’s CBD. myAirshuttle offer direct transport from central Fremantle to both the domestic and international Perth Airport terminals. Click here for shuttle bus services from various locations in Perth CBD to and from Perth domestic and international airports. Pre bookings are not essential.
Taxis/Uber/Chauffeur/Ola: A car trip between Fremantle city centre and Perth domestic or international airport terminals will take approximately 50 minutes depending on the day and time of day you are travelling. Use our Facebook group to find fellow dancers needing a lift!
Public Transport: To plan your journey, visit the Transperth website or phone the Transperth Infoline on 13 62 13. Fremantle Train Station is the end of the line on the Fremantle Train Line, and takes only 30 minutes from the Perth CBD, departing every 10-15 minutes Mon-Sat, and every 30 minutes on Sundays. Once in Fremantle, catch the FREE Red CAT from the train station which runs every 15 minutes. If you have accommodation in Fremantle the FREE Blue CAT will take you to within a 3 minute walk to the venues. There is plenty of parking close by all festival venues. Please check the City of Fremantle website for detailed information. Most parking areas offer the first hour free. Do your research ahead of time and be prepared. Be mindful that Friday is a work day with restricted parking available, so please be early.
