WAMED Festival 4 - 7 June 2010 --Celebrating Dance & Community--

Have you seen our latest ad in Bellydance Oasis Magazine?  Our thanks go to Alma for providing the creative work for us once again. As you will see we have a very exciting line up for 2010 and we hope to have the full program available to you in February.

Keep an eye on the WAMED Festival website for updates on the workshop programme, venues, performance opportunities and the Grande Bazaar.

Reflections Gala Concert: As mentioned in our December update we have once again confirmed the fantastic Lady Wardle Performing Arts Centre at St Mary's School in Karrinyup as the venue for the Gala Show. Our special guests will feature on this night, including a beautiful duet by Nour and Yasser.

Expressions of interest are welcome from talented and experienced performers to be part of this glittering event. Make sure you get your submissions in by January 31 to be considered.  Visit the WAMED Festival EOI page for details of this and other Festival performance opportunities.

Wanted - WAMED Accommodation Adviser:  Do you know your way around Perth?  Are you a guru at finding just the right accommodation at the right price?  Then we need you to help us advise regional, interstate and international visitors on how to get to and from workshops and events, where they can rest their weary bodies and grab a bite to eat.  Contact Renate to find out how we can help each other to make our out of town visitors get the most from their festival experience.

Scholarships 2010: We are thrilled to have on board Free Spirit Dance Community, Oasis Dance Studio and Bellydance Central as Gold sponsors together with Bellydance WA, and Jilyan & Hip Infinity as Silver sponsors.  Sponsoring the scholarship program is a great way to raise the profile of your business and show your support for the bellydance community. A few sponsorship packages are still available - email scholarship@wamedfestival.com for information.

Shiva, Australia's premier male bellydancer, coming to WAMED 2010Spotlight on: SHIVA

Based in Sydney, Shiva has performed at hundreds of events at weddings, parties, nightclubs, restaurants and the annual Sydney Middle Eastern Dance Festival.  In 2006 he trained contestants and performed in the top rating Turkish television show Oryantal Star (Turkey's equivalent of Australian Idol for bellydancers).

In 2008 Shiva wowed Perth audiences with his dynamic performance at the Jillina concert, and will return to thrill us again for the WAMED Festival 2010 Reflections gala concert.  Shiva's strength, stamina, flexibility and amazing ability to isolate and control his muscles combine to produce an electric display of belly dance as you have never seen it before.

Shiva will be sharing a wealth of experience and expertise with workshops focussing on Khaleegee, Saiidi and "Introductions with Flair" to bring out the dynamic and unique dancer in you!

Visit Shiva's YouTube channel and be inspired!

Bookings for all events and workshops will be open on 1 March 2010 so mark your diary and be sure you don't miss out!

All the very best from the
WAMED Festival Team
